Expanded Thought by Brose Partington, Nylon, Steel, Fan, Timer, 2013
Expanded Thought is a two-month temporary installation in the stairwell of the Illinois Fall Creek Building on Ivy Tech’s Central Indiana Campus. Expanded Thought is an inflatable sculpture shaped like a thought cloud that inflates and deflates every seven minutes or so. The sculpture is influenced by the hard-edged architecture of the stairwell, the railings, and the way the area seems to “contain†the object. The thought cloud, which is always in movement, represents the student’s ideas and thoughts being changed and challenged while in the educational environment of Ivy Tech.
This is the first site specific art installation in the new Illinois Fall Creek Building and is sponsored by the Center for Community and Culture Studies.
