Project: To Middle Species, With Love

Year: 2021

Description: Joyce Hwang’s To Middle Species, With Love creates habitat conditions for urban wildlife in Columbus, Indiana. Made out of Indiana hardwood, the installation provides bird perches and functions similarly to the bat houses used by the endangered Indiana Bat—one of 13 bat species in Indiana. Boulders offer habitat for smaller creatures.  The installation was part of Exhibit Columbus, a program of the Landmark Columbus Foundation, featuring site-responsive installations created by architects, artists, and designers.

BPS Role: Deinstallation, Relocation, Reinstallation
